Positive Personal and Professional Growth
Research demonstrates that "not only are the arts fun, but they keep kids in school, develop self esteem, and remove boundaries."

The arts offer visually impaired learners, and other learning disabled students, a hands-on lesson in numerous concepts that are otherwise difficult to convey to them.

ART does TEACH.
It teaches through: Touch, Expression, Access, Challenge, Healing, Enriching, and Stimulation. This workshop provides not only motivation but also practical instructions for successful art projects that have been tested with visually impaired students.

A WORKSHOP FOR:
Teachers with Inclusive Classrooms
Child Care Providers
All Teachers of Students with Special Needs
Students and adults who are blind or have low vision.

Art can provide more than fun for the special needs student. It can be an enriching learning experience. Concepts that are difficult to teach come much more easily with hands-on art projects.

The activities included have actually been tested with blind and visually impaired youngsters. The material presented is being compiled into a handbook to be published for Teachers of the Visually Impaired. It is a three hour, hands-on workshop, but can be adapted for other formats.

"My mission is to advocate and strive for art to be encouraged and used as a teaching tool with students who are blind,
visually impaired or have other disabilities."
